Important Aftercare Instructions For Cosmetic Tattoo:

-For the first 24=48 hours, keep the area clean. GENTLY BLOT with a clean tissue, or damp paper towel, when needed. DO NOT wipe area. Keep moist by applying A & D ointment ONLY.

-Wash your hands thoroughly before touching the area or use a sterile swab to apply ointment.

-Avoid tanning, the sun, sweating excessively, or steam saunas within the first 2 weeks.

-The goal is to have your skin flake off naturally, rather than form into large scabs.

-DO NOT pick or scratch at the dry flaky skin patches; let the skin fall off naturally. Picking can cause scarring and premature loss of pigment.

-If area itches, apply ointment.

-Apply ointment a few times a day for the next 2 weeks. After the initial 2 weeks, apply non-scented moisturizer daily. DO NOT let the area dry out!

-DO NOT put Neosporin on the tattooed area.

-You may use an ice pack covered with a disposable paper towel if needed for swelling.

-The complete healing process takes about 4-6 weeks, at that time the true color of the tattoo will be evident. Immediately following your procedure, the tattooed area will appear to be darker and bolder in color. This can last up to a week after the treatment while the initial healing process takes place. During the full healing process, your tattoo will soften and lighten.

Be patient, even if you think too much color has been lost; your skin is still regenerating and naturally exfoliating. It will turn darker again, yet lighter than the initial color. Wait at least 6 weeks to see the true color. It is only after 6-8 weeks that your touch-up or adjustment can be done.

-Swelling and redness is minimal with most clients and will disappear within 48 hours. However, it should not prevent working or socializing. Swelling during the healing process can distort the symmetry, don’t panic; that is why I measure beforehand. The treated area may feel a bit like a sunburn afterward, but there should be minimal discomfort.

-You may shower or bathe normally, but DO NOT soak area under water and avoid using any scented soaps, special cleansers, or make up on the treated area for the first 2-3 weeks; they can be detrimental to the bonding process that must take place for the pigment to stabilize in the dermis. If you use these products it can lead to discoloration.

-Once the treated area is completely healed, any changes or additions that need to be made can be done at your follow-up appointment, no sooner than 6 weeks later.

Once Healed:

-Exposure to the sun over time can cause fading and discoloration of the pigment. Once completely healed, you may apply sunscreen on the treated area. Wear large sunglasses and a hat for further protection or cover the tattooed area with something. Rinse and dry the area thoroughly when in contact with chlorine.

-Glycolic and Hyaluronic acid, face peels and exfoliating products must be kept away from the tattooed area. Use of these products will lighten the pigment.
